I’m pleased that Amy has started a new blog, Sparklecloud, yesterday. She’s made me realise how much fun I’ve been missing. Fun is the best reason for blogging that I’ve heard anyone come up with. Even Toby Young, @toadmeister on twitter, a proper political journalist, the other day was bemoaning the fact that tweeting can become quite combatative and depressing when people take your 140 characters the wrong way.
Blogging, on the other hand is fun, he said. I have to agree with that.
Following my fairly recent subscription to twitter I have quite often felt a passionate urge to write political blogs. I shall resist the temptation though.
It doesn’t help anyone, least of all me.
There are many, “isms”, such as Marxism, Feminism or some right wingism, perhaps facism even, which provide a formula through which to filter your experience of life.
This may be quite useful if you are trying to find order or direction in your life.
However, if you are interested in the truth, (as you see it), they are all profoundly unhelpful. Trying to fit your real life experience into someone else’s theory will never work.
It can only take you further away from an honest relationship with the world.
I’ll leave that there for now. I’m not one for debates. I’m more interested in finding, “the truth”, than a winner and a loser.
So here are some Hipstamatic photographs from my iPhone today. Taken on the A623 on my way back from Chapel-en-leFrith, Capital Of The Peak, Home Of Ferodo Brake Linings and Bilbo Baggins just before the left turn to Eyam on the way down to Stoney Middleton.
As Adrian commented on his blog the other day, photography needs light but I just rattled these off in the gathering gloom using standard Hipstamatic kit, John S Lens and Ina’s 1969 film in the space of five minutes and they captured a place and a moment. I hope.
